Hildoceras Ammonite ,  Somerset UK.  from the Lower Jurassic Period, 170 million years old.  A typical English fossil.  This specimen has been cut and half and polished to show the inner anatomy of the ammonite.  There are very clear sutures and crystalised formations in the chambers which made this creature buoyant.  The two tone colouration makes this both decorative and fascinating – great for a collector of any age.
