Fossilised Cave Bear Rib.  Our Cave Bear Rib is from Ursus Spelaeus, the Cave Bear which was widespread throughout Europe until the last Ice Age.  Adult males could weigh up to 500 kilos and measure 8 feet high, so they had few natural enemies and generally died peacefully during hibernation in caves.

Ancient man sometimes lived in the same cave systems and primitive jewellery containing cave bear teeth has been found with human remains.  In fact, bears had a significant place in many ancient symbolic ceremonies.

This rib is from bones found in the cave systems of Ciclovina in the Hateg Mountains of Romania, and is much sought after by collectors of Ice Age bones.  It is from the Pleistocene Age 30,000 years old.

As with all our products, shipping free on mainland UK and at subsidised cost overseas.
