Cleoniceras  Ammonites Mounted on Slate.  A lovely pair of  early squid-like creatures, from Madagascar.  Lower Cretaceous period, 110 million years old.  These ammonites became  available about 18 yrs ago and until then, nacreous ammonites – ie still with Mother of Pearl shell, were very rare and consequently very expensive.

Now as highly collectable as they are also beautiful, Cleoniceras  are sought after for their decorative appeal. These specimens are  gloriously rich in colour and superbly iridescent.  We love the way they have been displayed by a local expert in Madagascan Fossils and are highly tempted to keep them, so be quick.   Collectors of fossils and lovers of beautiful things alike will be delighted to own such a prize!
