Cleoniceras Ammonite

Cleoniceras  Ammonites, were  early squid-like creatures.  This is from Madagascar and lived in the  Lower Cretaceous period, 110 million years ago.  These ammonites became  available about 10 yrs ago and until then these exquisitely colourful ammonites – ie still with natural shell, were very rare. They remain highly collectible and much prized.

Cleoniceras  are also sought after for their decorative appeal. This specimen is superbly iridescent.   Collectors of fossils and lovers of beautiful things, especially shells, will be enchanted by this ancient, precious treasure.
